'How this ended up in a built up residential street is mind boggling'
A Belfast councillor has hit out at a "mind boggling" situation which saw a child playing with a sword they thought was a toy.
Sinn Féin councillor Micheal Donnelly praised a local parent in the Upper Springfield area of West Belfast for raising the alarm. He said what could have happened "doesn't bear thinking about". He said: "I want to thank the concerned parent from the Upper Springfield area who reached out after finding her child with this sword."The innocence of children thought it was a toy and were playing with it only for the parent to realise it was a real sword."How this ended up in a built up residential street is mind boggling. Thank god nobody was hurt."
