Child snatcher suspect says she is being 'set up' and launches last-ditch bid to stay in Scotland
A child snatch murder plot suspect has said she will prove her innocence as she embarks on a last-ditch bid to remain in Scotland.
Hayes’s lawyer Jelina Berlow-Rahman said: “There is a pending application at the European Court of Human Rights preventing Ms Hayes being extradited to the USA. The court has decided not to reject the application as inadmissible, therefore whilst a decision is still to be made, Ms Hayes cannot be extradited.”
US prosecutors say Hayes fled to Glasgow in 2018 after botching the abduction plot, which “read like a script from a bad horror movie”. They say the mum duped a childless couple, Frank and Jennifer Amnott, into believing she was a government agent before convincing them to help her carry out the abduction in return for a child of their own.
