The country exported US$1.6B of lithium in the first five months of 2024
Chile's lithium production is projected to grow to 275,000t in 2024 and 280,000t 7in 2025, the Chilean Copper Commission said. In 2023, Chile produced 270,947t of lithium, an increase of 4.4% compared to 2022 and 120.5% compared to 2020.In their recent lithium market report, Cochilco reported that Chile's lithium exports reached US$7.8 billion in 2023, a 4% decrease from the year before. As of May 2024, this year's exports total $1.
International lithium market outlookCochilco notes that the drop in lithium prices has led leading producers, especially spodumene operators in Australia, to limit production, implement cost-reducing measures, and scale back expansions.
