Sky News Washington Correspondent Annelise Nielsen says China has “clearly” been a focus of private discussions between US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
President Biden brought up China unprompted ahead of the 4th state dinner of the Biden administration. Mr Albanese’s state visit comes just a week before he will head to Beijing for the first trip to China by an Australian Prime Minister since 2016. “The Belt and Road initiative has been a debt in a noose for most of the people who have signed on,” President Biden warned.
“We are working with our G7 partners to provide infrastructure for the nations that he’s trying to deal with.”
