China's PLA reveals it is more than ready to counter the US' drone 'hellscape' strategy in the event of a Taiwan invasion.
The “hellscape” strategy will be used by the US to buy them vital time to mount a more robust response. China ’s People’s Liberation Army has claimed that it can counter the U.S.’ planned drone “hellscape” if China decides to invade Taiwan .
Officially called the “hellscape” strategy, the U.S. plan will use many sacrificial drones to tie up Chinese forces until a more concerted U.S. response is mobilized. Chinese military analysts claim that China could counter with like-for-like drone responses and on a grander scale. In effect, the PLA would overwhelm U.S. drone responses with swarms of their own drones. The Department of Defense officially announced the program last year as a long-term plan to deploy thousands of “attritable” autonomous systems.
In March, Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks announced that the Pentagon plans to spend $1 billion this fiscal year on the “Replicator” program.
