China's National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) claims that its Bozhong 26-6 oilfield has proven reserves of over 200 million cubic meters.
China’s National Offshore Oil Corporation has announced that its Bozhong 26-6 oilfield has proven reserves of over 200 million cubic meters. Located in the southern waters of the Bohai Sea, if this figure is correct, it could make the oilfield the biggest metamorphic rock oilfield worldwide.
According to Zhou Jiaxiong, the deputy general manager of the Tianjin branch of CNOOC, the oilfield can produce more than 30 million cubic meters of crude oil, sufficient to meet the daily transportation needs of over a million urban residents for over 20 years.of natural gas, catering to the household gas consumption of more than a million urban residents for over 60 years.
This process, known as metamorphism, alters the mineral composition and structure of the rock without melting it. Common examples of metamorphic rocks include slate, schist, gneiss, and marble.
