The Covid initiative has been rubbished by a mountaineering expert.
China says it will mark out a line on Mount Everest to separate it from Nepal, in an effort to battle coronavirus.
But the move was rubbished by mountaineering experts who noted that the only area where climbers from each side come close is the summit – and anyone with Covid-19 would struggle to make the top because of a lack of oxygen Nepal has given permits to 408 foreigners attempting the climb this year, in an attempt to boost tourism, while China allowed 38 people onto the mountain.
