A collection that originated with a prominent Guangzhou family blew estimates out of the water, including a $393,600 sale on a high estimate of $5000.

While Sino-Australian politics continue to generate controversial media headlines, Chinese art collectors are buying back their cultural patrimony from Australian shores. And they’re spending big while doing so.

Landscape, a handscroll created in 1593 by Zhu Yiya, carried a pre-sale upper estimate of $8000 but sold for $98,400 including buyer’s premium.
