Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has delivered a very personal hello to fans down under before the Australian leg of the UK band’s Music Of The Spheres world tour begins this week. On Tuesday night, a video was posted to Instagram showing Chris Martin playing on the piano and humming a very familiar tune during the soundcheck at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium ahead of the first show on Wednesday.

Chris Martin’s special Australian surprise. It does not take an Australian ear long to realise what he is playing — the soundtrack to the beloved sitcom Neighbours. “Hello Melbourne,” the video on the Coldplay Instagram post was captioned. After he finishes the song, the video shows Martin walking to the centre of the stadium stage and taking a bow. Australian pop star and former Neighbours actress Natalie Imbruglia responded in the comments.
