Premier Chris Minns is looking to"clean up" the embattled union as it faces corruption allegations. Picture: NewsWire / Nikki Short The NSW CFMEU arm is registered under both the federal and state government's industrial relation systems, meaning action is needed from both governments to allow effective administration on the union.

The administrator’s appointment comes almost three weeks after damning footage in the Sydney Morning Herald allegedly showed union boss Darren Greenfield being handed $5,000 cash in a suspected kickback deal. This comes as Fair Work Commission head Murray Furlong launched Federal Court proceedings on Friday to give an administrator sweeping powers to overhaul the union’s construction division.
