David Healy was a target of Raith Rovers last week but has committed his future to Linfield with a new contract
Chris Shields has opened up on the management style David Healy brings to Linfield. The Blues boss was a target of Raith Rovers last week but has pledged his future to the club by signing an extended contract.
And while Healy presents a calm and measured persona on the sidelines and during media interviews, Shields says the 45-year-old often shows off a polar opposite personality in training. "You see all the emotions come out during training, and then on Saturday he is this calm persona in front of everyone else. But we see him most from Monday to Friday and we see what type of man and manager he is.Shields admits the speculation surrounding Healy was the talk of the Linfield changing room, with players even indulging in some light-hearted banter with their manager.
"There were a few jokes made at David's expense but that's part and parcel of a close changing room. At the end of the day we got a good result against Loughgall, and the club got a good result with David's contract extension on Monday. "Yes, there was some outside noise last week and we just had to treat it as that. We had started the season well and we needed to keep that focus against Loughgall. So we were completely focused on that.
