The former Aston Villa, Norwich and Chelsea striker has given an interesting take on both sides ahead of the clash this weekend
Chris Sutton has given his prediction ahead of Nottingham Forest’s trip to St Mary’s where they will face Southampton this Saturday .
In his weekly column for BBC Sport, he wrote: “Southampton were brilliant at Newcastle. If there was a criticism of them it was they didn't really create enough when Newcastle went down to 10 men. Southampton's performance deserved something. Forest had the horrendous injury to Danilo, which is a big blow to them. But I am going to go for Forest.
Southampton showed promise in their first game back in the top flight since being relegated in 2023. However, finishing chances proved hard to come by against a 10-man Newcastle United following the sending-off of Fabian Schar. The Saints could not make the Magpies pay despite having 78% possession as well as 19 shots - four of which were registered on target.
