What the forecasters say for the weather on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day
It’s not long now until Christmas Day and while it’s not looking like snow is likely, meaning a White Christmas is probably off the cards, many of us will be hoping for an improvement in the current weather conditions.
This weekend the UK has been battered by strong winds, along with heavy rain showers, hail and thunderstorms. Yellow weather warnings for wind were issued by the Met Office, while travel plans were sent into disarray as transport services experienced delays and cancellations. Fortunately the weather is expected to settle down from Monday and conditions are set to be stable over the festive period. In Greater Manchester, forecasters predict mild temperatures for this time of year, although it’s likely to be overcast with some drizzle. We’ve looked at weather forecasts from the Met Office, BBC Weather and AccuWeather for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day to give you an idea of what the weather will be over the next few days. The Met Office Forecasting for the North West from Tuesday to Thursday, the Met Office says: “Turning very mild by Christmas Eve and staying mild over the festive period. Generally dull at first with some drizzle in places but otherwise mainly dry with brighter breaks possible.” Manchester on Christmas Eve is expected to reach a high of 12C with light rain changing to overcast throughout the day, according to the Met Office. Christmas Day is also set to be overcast with highs of 12C. Boxing Day will be similar, with highs of 11C. BBC Weather In the outlook for Manchester for Tuesday to Thursday, BBC Weather says: “Christmas Eve will be largely cloudy with a chance of the odd shower in places, particularly in the morning. Some bright spells throughout the day. Christmas Day will see settled conditions and cloudy skies, with the occasional bright spell. Remaining settled on Boxing Day, with variable clouds and bright spells throughout the day.” BBC Weather forecasts a drizzly Christmas Eve with highs of 12C; for Christmas Day it predicts a misty start, clearing around 9am, with sunny intervals until 3pm. Boxing Day will also experience morning mist, changing to light cloud with highs of 10C. AccuWeather Forecasting for Christmas Eve in Manchester, AccuWeather says “not as cool with low clouds”, preciting highs of 12C. Christmas Day is set to experience “low clouds breaking for some sun” with highs of 11C while for Boxing Day AccuWeather predicts “sun and areas of low clouds” with highs of 9C.
