This Christmas, online grocery shoppers are facing a nightmare as substitutions for essential festive items leave many without their traditional Christmas Dinner staples.
Many people have turned to online shopping as a convenient way to get your groceries delivered directly to your front door - but no system is without its drawbacks. Around Christmas, if you are planning on celebrating with a traditional Christmas Dinner, then you need a fairly specific set of groceries and ingredients. However, you don't always get what you ask for when it comes to online shopping.
Many online shopping services provide an option for a substitution, which means you get a different item than the one you ordered from the supermarket. This is meant to be a replacement, so you get maybe a different brand of a similar item. Sometimes, however, the substitutions can lead to unforeseen consequences, meaning getting way more of something you do not really need, or less of something you really want. The sheer volume of people needing food items for Christmas Day and Boxing Day will no doubt strain those services. This can be disastrous, and can often lead people - who have booked a slot weeks in advance - having to battle the supermarkets on Christmas Eve in search of the product they really need. People have taken to social media to share their plight this Christmas after not getting what they want from their home deliveries.
