A Liverpool mom shares her experience of transforming her Christmas perspective after visiting Otterspool Adventure Centre's winter wonderland.
Before I had my little boy, I was a bit of a Grinch to be honest. It's not that I don't like Christmas - I do - I just don't like a lot of the things that come with it, and how long it can drag on for. But seeing kids experience the 'magic' of it all is a game-changer. It's such a beautiful thing, and so when we were invited along to experience 'the North Pole' right in the middle of Liverpool , I was actually quite excited.
Inside her cosy cottage we decorated some gingerbread, before slipping and sliding on a gigantic ice rink, and then swinging by the post office, where kids can write and send letters to Santa. After toasting some marshmallows, we then headed to the grotto to meet the jolly man himself. A trail filled with twinkling lights and 'snow' led us to Father Christmas, where a very-realistic Santa was eager to see us.
