He shared news of an injury with followers
The new series of Dancing on Ice 2023 is just days away but Nottingham ice skating legend and show judge, Christopher Dean has updated fans after a health scare. The sporting hero took to Twitter to share news of an injury with followers.
Christopher Dean, who is one half of Olympic gold medal winning team Torvill and Dean, sits on the judging panel of the hit show alongside fellow Olympian and OBE recipient, dance partner Jayne Torvill. Celeb judges on the show include Oti Mabuse and Ashley Banjo, while ITV This Morning presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby return to the show as hosts.
Updating fans ahead of the show's return to our screens, the local legend posted from a joint 'Jayne and Chris' Twitter account. The star revealed a picture of a bandaged finger and simply wrote: "Yes broken".Fans and fellow celebs and dancers were quick to react to the post. Dancing on Ice Pro Skater, Robin Johnstone, wrote: "Oh no ouch!!! Feel better soon xo", with Alexandra Schauman adding: "Speedy recovery".
The good wishes continued. One fan said: "Oh no! I remember when Jayne broke her thumb back in 2011. The dangers of ice skating. Hope you have a speedy recovery X". Another said: "Oh no, really hope it recovers and heals soon. I bet it hurts…..I did the same in the summer and now have a recovered but wonky little finger. Hope you are still able to skate ….but very carefully….. xxx".
Christopher went on to explain in a second post the reason for the injury. He wrote: "We were trying the Iron Lotus, but ended up doing a Half Nelson." Adding a link to a YouTube video clip from Blades of Glory, he continued: "...or did I just fall over a suitcase in the middle of the night." followed by a laughing face.This year's show will include a star studded line-up including, for the first time, a glam drag queen contestant.
