Chula Vista appoints Rachel Morineau as new District 4 council member

The City Council special meeting held a panel job interview for candidates hoping to represent District 4.

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — After a lengthy Special Chula Vista’s City Council meeting, Rachel Morineau was voted to fill the"I am committed to restoring trust and transparency and advocate for policies and incentives aligned with the needs of District 4," said Morineau.The Special City Council meeting on Thursday was widely attended with very few open seats available inside council chambers as dozens of residents watched the proceeding.

All eight candidates made their case to Chula Vista Mayor John McCann, the council and a chamber full of Chula Vistans as to why they're the right fit for the job. The meeting began with public comments where at least 30 people addressed everything from what they said is corruption in Chula Vista's City Council to supporting the interim candidate of their choice.

Chula Vista Mayor John McCann highlighted the importance of holding a transparent and fair process of appointing a new councilmember.
