Two suspects -- including a church pastor -- were arrested for their involvement in a $40,000 murder-for-hire plot, according to authorities in California.
President Joe Biden touts his administration's actions to invest in American industries like manufacturing in a speech from Arizona.on Tuesday said 47-year-old Samuel Pasillas, of Victorville, and 55-year-old Juan Manuel Cebreros, of Long Beach, are facing the following charges in connection to the case:Pasillas was also charged with solicitation for murder. The men were booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center and each held on $1 million bail.
"Gunfire came from this other vehicle and he was struck several times," police noted in a release, adding that the man drove himself to the hospital, where he was treated.Police said officers found evidence of a shooting where the man said the incident took place, with detectives launching a follow-up investigation and learning it was a murder-for-hire shooting.
"The victim had been dating a woman whose father is a pastor for a Spanish-speaking church in Victorville," police said, noting the father was identified as Pasillas, who met with people he hired and gave them information about the man, including where he would be the night of the shooting. "Detectives also determined these men were paid almost $40,000 by the father and had conducted surveillance on the victim in the weeks leading up to when they shot him," police said.
