The Cinco de Mayo Parade and Festival on Jefferson is renowned for its colorful costumes, floats, bands, dancers and custom cars.Cinco de Mayo officially commemorates Mexico’s May 5, 1862, victory over French forces in the Battle of Puebla. But it’s more widely recognized as a celebration of Mexican culture with events that showcase music, dance, food and, yes, even margaritas. Here’s a guide to some fun fiestas in the Dallas area.
The drop-in party features live music on the Box Garden stage and Cinco de Mayo themed food and drinks in the food stalls and restaurants. Admission is free until 6 p.m. with entertainment by Mariachi Pura Sangre at 12:30 p.m. and Lara Latin at 3 p.m. The party will continue as Havana NRG takes the stage at 8:15 p.m. .The outdoor fest on the Village’s Glen Lawn features tribute bands Grupo La Flor and Voz Descalza .
