claiming that the King County Sheriff's Office breached an agreement by failing to enforce the city's public camping ordinance.
Ordinance 827, which went into effect on Nov. 1, makes it a misdemeanor to camp on public property between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. when shelter space is available."According to the contract for services, if there is disagreement regarding a contracting city’s “procedure, policy, goal or operation” the solution is not unilateral action by King County, its Sheriff, or members of the KCSO, rather the parties shall negotiate to reach a final determination," the announcement read.
In an email from City Manager Adolfo Bailon to King County Sheriff Cole-Tindall, Bailon informs the Sheriff that his team will explore the process of withholding payment for services due to KCSO’s egregious violation of a longstanding contract with the City of Burien.
