LEGAZPI CITY — Classes in Palanas town in Masbate provincd were suspended on Tuesday due to floods triggered by the continuous rain brought by the northeast monsoon.
In a social media post by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office – Palanas, classes at all levels in both public and private schools were declared suspended “until lifted” due to inclement weather.Ace Abejuela, an MDRRMO-Palanas responder, also posted on social media that their team conducted monitoring of the water levels in rivers as heavy rainfall flooded some town areas.
Reports said a river in Sitio Tan-ag in Barangay Poblacion overflowed while the water level at Sitio Langka in Barangay Sta. Cruz towards Masbate Spillway has reached waist-high, making it difficult for responders to pass through the bridge.
