A winter weather advisory was issued Monday afternoon for heavy snow in the Girdwood to Summit Lake areas. Snowfall amounts of 10 to 22 inches are likely through Tuesday afternoon.
ByANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race is winding down, with the first finisher expected to arrive in Nome on Tuesday. In the meantime, mushers and dogs will have to bear clear, cold weather, with wind chills down to 55 below. A wind chill advisory is in place for the Nome and Seward Peninsula area through Thursday afternoon.
Wind chill warnings are likely to expire over the northern coasts, but even so, wind chills will still be low and a concern for anyone spending time outside.
