A Cleveland Browns player was arrested in Key West, Florida Wednesday night for a DUI, according to local authorities.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said they booked Lonnie Phelps, one of the team’s defensive ends, into the county jail on the misdemeanor charge around 9:47 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, after crashing into a building. According to the police report, officers smelled alcohol on Phelps’ breath. Phelps also refused multiple times to take an alcohol breath test.
Phelps had a woman, who also showed signs of intoxication, in the car at the time of the crash, the report said. Phelps and his passenger got into an argument in the middle of the street afterwards.We are aware of the incident, gathering more information and have no further comment at this time. The Browns signed Phelps as an undrafted free agent in 2023.
