Coinciding with the first round of the NFL draft on April 25, council members had their pick in a week ahead of the 45-day deadline.

Although he has not served directly in municipal government, Cleveland Heights Interim City Councilman Jim Posch brings 16 years of experience in local public service between two terms on the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school board and seven years as a trustee with the Heights Libraries. Following his appointment, the remaining three years on former Councilwoman Janine Boyd's term will come up for election in November.

“I felt there was a great pool of applicants,” Posch added. “You have to love the Heights, with people like this who want to see our community thrive.” As for the most pressing issue he feels the city now faces, Posch cited a “need to improve the current culture” in City Hall. He believes the city’s strengths lie in its residential character, from the diversity embraced in the “All Are Welcome” philosophy to the preservation of its housing stock as primary assets., a Heights High grad -- as are their two daughters.
