The Cleveland Monsters are headed to the Eastern Conference finals of the AHL’s Calder Cup playoffs.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland Monsters completed a division final series sweep of the Syracuse Crunch on Wednesday with a 6-4 road win, securing a spot in the Eastern Conference finals of the AHL’s Calder Cup playoffs.
The Monsters will face the Hershey Bears in the next round after the Bears swept Hartford in their division final series. The conference finals begin Thursday, May 30, at 7 p.m. in Hershey. The Monsters won the first two games against Syracuse last week in Cleveland. On Wednesday, they trailed 3-2 entering the third period. But goals by Alex Whelan and Josh Dunne gave the Monsters a 4-3 lead.
The Crunch tied the game for the fourth time on a goal by Alex Barre-Boulet. But Luca Del Bel Belluz responded less than two minutes later to put the Monsters back in front.
