CLEVELAND, Ohio – Authorities said Thursday that they seized nearly 600,000 fentanyl pills, valued at $9.5 million, following a long-term investigation that led to the arrests of two men on federal drug charges.Cleveland police said detectives, working with an FBI task force, grabbed three handguns, two rifles and a pill press machine in the case. Officers searched properties in Cleveland, Highland Heights and Westlake on Tuesday.
Two people, ages 40 and 43, were arrested on federal warrants. Police did not identify them, and there is no record of any charges filed in U.S. District Court in Cleveland.The pills were counterfeit oxycodone Blue-M30 fentanyl pills. The Cleveland officers are part of the Cartel Gang Narcotics & Laundering Task Force, a unit that works closely with the U.S. attorney’s office in Cleveland. It is made up of over 38 investigators and analysts from several federal, state and local agencies.
