£165m in funding is awarded to several projects to turn household rubbish into fuel for jets.
Waste gases from a steelworks and household rubbish could be used to fuel aeroplanes for "guilt-free flying".cut CO2 emissions by an average of 200,000 tonnes a yearThey will also produce 300,000 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel a year - enough to fly to the moon and back about 60 times.and will convert steel mill off-gases into fuel.
Another scheme will develop a plant creating duel using carbon captured from a gas-fired power station and hydrogen made from renewable electricity.
