Councillors have approved an all-year round strategy in response to the increased frequency of severe weather events

Due to changing weather patterns, Perth and Kinross Council has reshaped its severe weather planning from a winter focus to the entire year.

The lightweight barriers - which will be quicker and easier to close - are expected to be delivered in November 2024. Mr Crofts said: "This reflects feedback and discussion between officers and elected members over recent years that the winter maintenance approach that has historically been shared does not reflect the all-year nature of the changing weather patterns and events we are now experiencing.

He added: "These enhancements - detailed in the report - will ensure our response is more robust, efficient and effective safeguarding our communities and infrastructure." Mr Crofts told councillors: "I'm confident the strategies and improvements detailed in this report will enhance our resilience and readiness."
