BACOLOD CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard has recorded 16,138 passengers traveling in and out of seaports in northern Negros Occidental since Oct. 31 for “Undas” or All Saints’ Day.
Seven-thousand, eight-hundred seventeen were outbound passengers, 8,321 were inbound passengers, and 3,298 were rolling cargoes.
As of 12 noon on Nov. 1, seaports in the northern part of the province had 1,521 inbound and 1,795 outbound passengers in seven seaports and localities. Bacolod City had the most passengers at 1,468, followed by San Carlos City with 837, Victorias City with 395, Escalante City with 281, Lakawon Island with 132, Pulupandan with 115, and 88 in Cadiz City.
Commander Jansen Benjamin, head of PCG-northern Negros Occidental, said that the number of passengers is fewer than last year based on their initial observation. Benjamin said that the situation in seaports is manageable. He added that Coast Guard personnel inspected cargoes and assisted and ensured the safety of travelers.
