The incident happened on the afternoon of September 12
Coastguard teams on the North Coast have helped evacuate a person who was injured after crossing a popular tourist attraction.
On Tuesday afternoon, September 12, the injured person crossed the Carrick-A-Rede rope bridge and slipped on the rough terrain on Carrick-A-Rede Island, sustaining a lower leg fracture. Teams from both the Ballycastle and Coleraine Coastguard Rescue Teams were tasked to the scene, where they assisted a paramedic from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service in stabilising and dressing the limb.Posting on social media about the incident, Coleraine Coastguard said it was decided that the safest method of evacuating the casualty from the island was by Coastguard Rescue helicopter R199 from Prestwick.
The Coastguard also shared a video online showing the rescue teams bringing the casualty towards the helicopter.Join our new WhatsApp community today Click this link or scan the QR code to receive breaking news and top stories from Belfast Live.
