Good Ground Coffee Company was founded by two recent college grads who learned that employment is one of the biggest barriers survivors face on their journey to freedom.

A coffee shop in Cumberland County that will employ survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation will hold a grand opening and ribbon cutting this month.The celebration at Good Ground Coffee Company is scheduled for 10 a.m. on May 14 at 244 S. 17th St. in Camp Hill .The business was founded by two recent Messiah University graduates, Rachel Beatty and Rachel Ferrence, who proposed the idea as part of a class project.

Together, Peace Promise and Good Ground Coffee Company provide survivors with access to economic and personal development opportunities through trauma-informed employment in a space created for them.Patty Seaman, executive director of client services for Peace Promise, shared the goal for the women who are employed by Good Ground Coffee Company.'Our hope would be that they get to go on to the careers, the dreams that they had when they were 4, 5, and 6 years old.
