Jeffrey, however, his newfound role in the show is sort of strange since his best World War II story happened months before and was completely skipped over by the war drama. Played by Christopher Lakewood, Colonel Jeffrey steps in as the 100th's commander during D-Day's invasion of Normandy.

Col. Jeffrey's Schweinfurt Raid Story That Masters Of The Air Missed Out Close One flight in particular that gave Colonel Jeffrey his reputation was the Schweinfurt Raid on October 14, 1943.
The Schweinfurt Raid, otherwise known as Black Thursday, was skipped by the war drama, despite the fact that it was yet another huge and deadly battle for the 100th. Although Masters of the Air likely skipped Black Thursday for pacing purposes, it is still a shame that audiences will only know Jeffrey as a passing commander rather than the hero he proved himself to be. Schweinfurt was both catastrophic and imperative for the Eighth Air Force.
