A murderer, a cruel woman, and a beautician who tried to dodge a speeding ticket were among those jailed in July 2022.
Lee Tipping jailed over night of 'savage and extreme' violence Lee Tipping has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 27 years for the violent killing of his parents at their home in Higher Walton. After killing his parents, Tipping washed the knife and placed it into his father's hand as he lay dead on the bathroom floor. He stepped over his mother's body and fled to Manchester Airport in a bid to leave the country.
Paul Evans, prosecuting, said the child - who can not be named for legal reasons - was diagnosed with a medical condition when they were young. Faragher was trusted to give them medication, but on numerous occasions in 2016 and 2017 she deliberately soiled the needles before using them. A court heard her describe how her whole family had changed because of what her attacker had done, and how he had robbed her of the chance to be a normal teenager. Morriss, 49, formerly of Denecliff, Liverpool, was described as a dangerous offender by a judge, who ordered he must serve at least 11 years before he is eligible to apply for parole.
Judge Simon Medland QC, sentencing, said: “This is the type of offence which is quite frequently encountered, whereby people seek to avoid and evade the driving regulations by making a false nomination on the form. It must be current on social media and in conversation, the supposition that this is something which can readily be settled by exchange of money so that a false nomination is made.
Ashley Keany, 35, has been in and out of custody since 2007, but claimed he was done with his criminal lifestyle when he appeared at Preston Crown Court on drugs supply charges. In July 2021, the now-35-year-old was arrested for breaking the terms of his release. But as he was take into custody he found to have 16.1g of high purity crack cocaine clenched between his buttocks.
In March this year, police received information from the community about a cannabis farm on March Street in the Daneshouse and Stoneyholme area. After forcing entry to the property, police found 185 cannabis plants, 86 of these were cropped and dying. McGraw, of no fixed address, gave a false name to the officers but he was recognised and arrested for escape from lawful custody. He gave no comment during his police interview but pleaded guilty to the offence on July 13 2022.
