The private sector and various government agencies, spearheaded by the BOI, are set to launch the Cold Chain Database Project by February 2023, which is aimed at keeping tabs on the agency’s investment prospects for the cold chain industry.

The private sector and various government agencies, spearheaded by the Board of Investments , are set to launch the Cold Chain Database Project by February 2023, which is aimed at keeping tabs on the agency’s investment prospects for the cold chain industry.

In addition, the BOI noted, the database provides a guide about the specific locations where investment promotions should be focused, while aspiring to meet the Philippine Cold Chain Industry Roadmap’s target of increasing local cold chain capacity by 50,000 pallet positions per year in the near term.

The project commenced through a memorandum of understanding among the BOI, the Environmental Management Bureau through its Global Partnership for Improving the Food Cold Chain in the Philippines funded by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and InsightSCS Corp. The SCMAP chief also underscored that with more information shared, more people will understand the requirements of the cold chain industry.
