Bannsiders welcome Scottish side Hamilton to The Showgrounds on Saturday
The Bannsiders have a weekend off from Irish League action as they welcome Scottish League One outfit Hamilton to The Showgrounds this afternoon for this third round clash.
John Rankin's side are so far unbeaten this term and dropped their first points last Saturday following a 2-2 draw at Stirling Albion. It will be a tough test for Kearney's men but he feels the fact they do not have another league game until the following Saturday means he will be able to go as strong as possible."Thankfully, they haven't rescheduled our game against Cliftonville, who are also in the competition to the following Tuesday night.
"If we are playing Hamilton on Saturday and then Cliftonville on Tuesday, the League game would be really important whereas I'm glad we have a week heading into it and after it.Kearney will be hoping Coleraine can get back to winning ways again after a disappointing defeat to Linfield last week. The 3-1 defeat means the Bannsiders have conceded nine goals in their opening six games. Kearney says it has to change but insisted it is a collective responsibility."We’ve created a lot of opportunities over the games and you get all your stats to show the percentage that hit the target."Clean sheets start from the front and you look at Linfield’s front two and their work rate was super.
"It was good to get ‘Shevy’ back," said Kearney. "We probably have two or three more sitting on the sidelines who are important for us."There’s nobody really lodging money in the bank at this moment in time to say they’ve earned the shirt."
