Colleyville police say an hourslong standoff with an armed man has ended after having asked residents in the area to remain inside and lock their doors.

The police department said Friday afternoon that the scene, near the 3700 block of Brentwood Drive, was secure and that the man had shot and wounded himself.About 11 a.m., police asked residents to remain inside as officers worked to apprehend the suspect who was fleeing from another agency on foot in the area, according to social media posts from the department.An hour and a half later, police said the man was “contained” and officers were negotiating with him.

Colleyville police said an official statement about the incident would be released. Police did not say in the posts what led to the man being pursued or which agency pursued him into the city. The man was not identified in the social media updates.Dallas police said its fugitive unit was watching a possible aggravated robbery suspect as part of an investigation, and that the surveillance led to Bedford.

A Dallas police spokesperson said the department then contacted Bedford police for help with a traffic stop, directing further questions about the incident to Bedford and Colleyville police.
