Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited Colombia on a four-day trip that included stops in Bogota, Cali and Cartagena - the couple reportedly paid for the visit themselves
Claims Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's quasi-royal tour to Colombia cost a whopping £1.5million have been denied by officials in the country, who also revealed who paid for it.
El Pais reports that the Ministry confirmed the Sussexes covered their own travel expenses. A spokesperson from the Ministry said: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex financed their trip and that of their team with their own resources." The rumours about the visit costing £1.5m were also denied by officials, according to El Pais, although they did not reveal the exact amount. They also denied that 3,000 security men were hired for the visit.
The spokesman added: "It was a very productive visit that allowed connections to be established between the populations and the Archewell Foundation - created and led by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex - to promote programmes aimed at the economic autonomy of women, the prevention of violence in digital environments for girls, boys and young people, and support for leaders who build peace through art and culture.
