A gunman accused of shooting and killing five people at an LGBTQ club in Colorado Springs looked bruised and was barely able to speak in his first court appearance. Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, was slumped over and seemed bewildered in court via video conference on Wednesday. Wearing a yellow sleeveless protective jail smock, Aldrich was barely audible answering a few questions.‘Anderson Aldrich,’ the suspect said weakly, hardly appearing awake and with his head resting on his right shoulder.Ankeny ordered him to be remain held without bail.

Aldrich was released from a hospital and booked into jail on Tuesday. He was treated for injuries he sustained when people at Club Q tried to disarm him, according to officials. The extent of his injuries was not immediately known.Sign Up for
