At least five people were killed and another 18 injured when a gunman opened fire at an LGBTQ+ nightclub in Colorado Springs on Saturday night

Numerous victims were taken to multiple nearby hospitals, and officials say the number of injured people is subject to change. Colorado Springs police will hold a press conference at 8:00 a.m. Sunday.Colorado Springs police were notified of a shooting at Club Q just before midnight and responded within minutes, Castro said. Thirty four firefighters and eleven ambulances showed up on scene.

Details about how the suspect was apprehended remain unclear, though it seems patrons helped take down the shooter, according to a statement released by Club Q.“Our pray[er]s and thoughts are with all the victims and their families and friends. We thank the quick reactions of heroic customers that subdued the gunman and ended this hate attack.”The FBI is helping with the ongoing investigation.

“Horrific situation in Colorado Springs,” said Rep. Jason Crow, a Congressman representing Colorado’s 6th district, “I’m thinking of all victims & their families, & will continue monitoring the situation. These attacks must stop. My heart is with our LGBTQ+ community as we all reel from this violence.”
