After three years in operation volunteers say they can no longer sustain the service
A vital community resource in an area of Wishaw that provides food and other essentials to people struggling to make ends meet will open for the final time this week.
However, the community council announced on social media that the larder will close permanently on Friday, December 13. “We do get a donation from Morrisons supermarket, every six to eight weeks, and that is wonderful, but they help so many people. They’re giving to breakfast clubs and all sorts of projects, so you can understand the pressure that they are under.
“There’s just so many people who’ve supported us. We get donations from the schools, from the congregation at St Mark’s church, and we also get the odd carrier bag just left – we don’t know who from. “Clare Adamson MSP would come along once a month and help people with all sorts of things, her office have been absolutely wonderful.”
