The Colts lost their Lowland opener last week against a Celtic B side featuring a player who was a regular in the first team squad last season

Cumbernauld Colts boss David Proctor insists he has no gripes about his side being undone by Celtic first team starlet Daniel Kelly, and says his players didn’t look out of place in Friday night’s Lowland League opener.

He said: “We competed really well over the course of the 90 minutes. Just after half-time, we just switched off for a moment and that is all it takes against a team like Celtic B, who had Daniel Kelly in their team - and we know all about his qualities. For me, Daniel playing for them is a real positive. It gives you a gauge of where our 18 and 19 year-olds are in their careers.

It doesn’t get any easier for Colts with defending champions East Kilbride up next on Saturday. Proctor’s old side kicked off their campaign with a 7-1 win over Civil Service Strollers.
