The Greater Columbus Sports Commission is set to continue its tradition of hosting major NCAA sporting events.
Entrance to Nationwide Arena in Columbus , Ohio. The 1st and 2nd rounds of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament will be played at Nationwide Arena . The Party on the Plaza in the arena district happens from 10:00 a.m. until the start of Session 2 with a big screen playing the games for the day, a DJ, and interactive games.
"Securing both the 2027 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship and the 2028 Division I Men’s Basketball First and Second Rounds is a tremendous honor for Columbus," said Linda Logan, CEO and President of the Greater Columbus Sports Commission. "Our city is deeply committed to supporting and elevating both men's and women's sports, and these events are a testament to that dedication.
In 2023, Nationwide Arena played host to the First and Second rounds of the Men's Tournament and sold more tickets than any other city that year with 58,694 attendees over three sessions. Fans will remember one of the rarest moments in sports history as the #16 ranked"Columbus is an athletics powerhouse, and it is always so exciting to see young athletes excel in the sports they love," said Mayor Andrew J. Ginther.
Ohio State Athletics Director Ross Bjork expressed pride in the city's achievements, saying, "To have both the 2027 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship and the 2028 March Madness First and Second Rounds awarded to Columbus and Nationwide Arena is a testament to what our great city has to offer. I am so proud of our staff and all those who make these events come to life with their hard work and dedication.
Columbus will also host several other exciting events, including the 2025 NHL Stadium Series, 2025 NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship, 2025 NCAA D1 Women's Golf Regionals, 2026 NCAA D1 Men's Golf Regionals, 2026 NCAA Mixed Rifle Finals, and the 2027 NCAA D1 Women's Final Four.
