The comedian visited at the recommendation of his favourite Kurdish restaurant in Glasgow and says he loves the hospitality offered in both countries.

A Glasgow comedian taking the internet by storm and selling out venues across the country has shared the story behind one of the craziest trips abroad we've seen in a while.

Having travelled from Glasgow Central to Manchester then Istanbul before arriving in Iraq, former soldier Gary joked that the adventure led to him wanting to call his latest tour 'Fae Possil to Mosul'. "The whole hospitality that we get from the Kurdish both here in Glasgow and over there, was just incredible. The comedian added that he loves how much the trip and the inspiration for it reflects how amazing Glasgow is.

The former soldier, 37, who discovered his love of comedy after leaving the army and trying to reintegrate into 'civvy street', said it was his experiences working as a taxi driver and currently as a gas engineer that helped him shape his acts and get real-life stories that make his shows so unique. Gary explained: "My agent Chrissy is my support act and manager and his best mate works for Toby Carvery, and said he might have a pure random job for me but added that there was a free lunch in it.
