The mural has been described as 'fantastic' and 'absolutely brilliant'
Comedy legend Tommy Cannon has visited a ‘fantastic’ mural in Oldham which celebrates some of the famous faces from the Greater Manchester borough.
The mural, which has been created by illustrator and artist Hammo, features the pair alongside the likes of actress Shobna Gulati, presenter Nick Grimshaw, rugby star Kevin Sinfield and Happy Valley actress Sarah Lancashire.With portraits of the notable people sitting within the word Oldham, the artwork also features actress Siobhan Finneran, DJ Carl Cox, and suffragette Annie Kenney, composer William Walton, actor and writer Eric Sykes, and musician Clint Boon.
Earlier this week, Tommy visited the mural for himself and took to social media to share the moment. He posted: “Went to go see the mural that got done in Oldham today! Fantastic, and a huge thank you. I never have felt famous or a big deal, but moments like this really make it all worthwhile.” Former Coronation Street actress Shobna Gulati, who has also appeared in Dinnerladies and Doctor Who and was recently honoured with an MBE, also shared her thoughts on the mural. She posted: “You’ve got to celebrate the wins. This fantastic mural in Oldham has my little face on it.”
