Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan election aspirants who are facing unresolved petitions against their candidacies won't be able to assume office even if they win. The Comelec says their cases must be resolved first.
MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections will hold off the proclamation of winning barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan election aspirants who are still facing unresolved cases that seek to block their candidacies.
“Please be informed that during the referendum/consultation today, the commission resolved to approve the suspension of proclamation of named respondents with pending petitions 1) to deny due course or to cancel certificate of candidacy ; 2) to declare a nuisance candidate; and 3) for disqualification until further orders from the commission,” the memo read.
