When Opal Lee was 12, a racist mob, angered that a Black family had moved in, drove her family out of their Texas home. Now, the 97-year-old community activist is getting closer to moving into a brand new home on the very same tree-lined corner lot in Fort Worth.
FOR THE LEDGER March of each year is designated as “Share Pilot Month” and annually the Luncheon Pilot Club of Enterprise presents funding to deserving projects in the community.
Representatives of some of the supported projects who attended the March Program Meeting of LPCE to receive their checks are Tom Iten and Calvin Bookout from the all-volunteer Coffee County Sheriffs’ Posse will use funds to subsidize the expenses for the volunteer’s horses. The posse works out of the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.
People are also reading… Ann Reynolds from Hands Up Enterprise welcomed funds to continue distributing food, clothing, and other needed items for those in need. Habitat for Humanity Director Ashley Avery welcomed funds to assist in building homes for deserving individuals.
