"To let our brother, James, know that we stand with him in solidarity. And we also want our community to know that we are attempting to foster a positive relationship between law enforcement, because those people that we depend on and our citizens," says rally organizer, Darla Barr. Jefferson County Sheriff, Lafayette Woods, was also there, both as a friend of the family and a member of law enforcement, to show his support and unity with the community.
"We are obviously here as a community, at large, to support and show unity and solidarity for Mr. James Wilburn who is a great member of this community. But also, after the wake of his daughter and death. Her life was cut short by a member of law enforcement in Illinois. Certainly, there is a connection with her death, because her father lives here, is a community leader and highly respected, volunteers wherever you need him.
