A family walk is at 10 a.m. June 15 at Batiquitos Lagoon. Participants learn about the the lagoon, a protected space, during the 1-mile flat walking tour. The walk will be led by Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation docents who will share the lagoon’s history and talk about the species that live there as well as the plant communities of the lagoon environments. Bring binoculars to watch birds. The free, family event is open to all ages. Meet at the Nature Center, 7380 Gabbiano Lane.

The Woman’s Club of Carlsbad holds a business meeting and planning session at 6:30 p.m. June 12 at its clubhouse, 3320 Monroe St. Social time is at 6 p.m. Prospective new members are welcome. A World Oceans Day cleanup is from 9 to 11 a.m. June 8 at South Mission Beach, hosted by San Diego Coastkeeper to celebrate World Ocean’s Day. Meet at the blue Coastkeeper pop-up tent on the grass near the restrooms by the main lifeguard tower. Supplies will be on hand, but participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable gloves, bag/bucket and water bottle.
