A new community group dedicated to the preservation and awareness of Glasgow’s only castle is hosting its inaugural AGM tomorrow evening.
The castle, situated on Brockburn Road, was founded in the 1100s by Robert De Croc and was later fortified by the Stewarts of Darnley around 1400. The group’s interim Chairperson and former Deputy Leader of Glasgow City Council, David McDonald says the main issue is ensuring the council remains open. Local MSP Humza Yousaf recently toured the Castle with Historic Environment Scotland, expressing his support for the Friends of group.
