Some residents say it could stop others using the space

Neighbours have voiced their disappointment over a group of youths who had to be taken homes to their parents after being caught drinking and smoking cannabis in a popular park. Some in Radcliffe-on-Trent fear the anti-social behaviour at the Rockley Memorial Park, in Radcliffe-on-Trent, will stop others using the space.

Ann Harbidge, who has lived in the area for 50 years, said that this behaviour could stop people from wanting to visit the park. The 83-year-old said: “I think it’s wrong. You can go whatever age you are, you want to sit and chat, look at the flowers, it’s for everyone.“If they do go a lot, people will stop going. It’s a lovely place, it’s a shame. It’s beautiful,it really is lovely.”

They added: “It’s a family space and it has been a problem for a while, on and off, not consistent. I know people have been concerned, it’s probably not nice for the people who live with a house that backs on to the park. It’s unfortunate, it’s a really pleasant space and puts people off going. It’s difficult as kids need somewhere to go.”
